The Current Employment Statistics
program provides current monthly statistics on employment, hours,
and earnings, by industry. The statistics are fundamental inputs in
economic decision processes at all levels of government, private
enterprise, and organized labor.

Overall, the requested annual
burden hours have increased from the previous burden request. The
increase is due to more frequent sample rotation and better
collection methods resulting in a higher response rate. The slight
decrease for the Federal Information Collection resulted from a
change in calculation due to the consolidation of Federal reporting
on the Electronic Data Interchange.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
